Dorothy Inspired Boo! Designs Sleeved Leotard

Posted by Ellies Handmade
One of my fave movies ever is the Wizard of Oz, Judy Garland was so amazing as Dorothy and I loved her blue Gingham dress as a child. I've never had much of a chance to create character inspired outfits, but recently had the opportunity to be part of the testing team for the new Boo! Designs Sleeved Leotard and thought I would try a little Dorothy inspired look for Miss Ellie.

Having very limited experience sewing with stretch fabric and absolutely none sewing with spandex, I was feeling pretty nervous that I would make a complete mess of it, but .......

I actually did it! I have to rave about the pattern a little - the pattern has SO much information in it - if your new to sewing with spandex or stretch fabric like me, there so many helpful tips and information in the tutorial that it sets you up to really get a great result and give you confidence that its not as hard as you might think.  It offers long sleeve, short sleeve, mini sleeve and flutter sleeve options as well as two skirt lengths, and splicing options too - so you really can create a super unique looking leotard with just one pattern. The fit is excellent, no bunching and no wedgies to be seen!

I added a white crochet lace to the hem and some sparkle trimmed elastic to the neckline.

Hope you like this little creation! Now to sit down and introduce this wonderful movie to my kids (how have I not done that yet?!).
